Whether you are a graphic designer, illustrator, or artist of any kind, you can make a poster. It can be digital, hand-made, use photography or just type; whatever you want. Take a look at the kind of poster art that already exists for Barack Obama and, if you like, try to raise the bar and be original (everyone is familiar with his face by now). As a resource to those in the community, we have a pdf with variations on the official Obama logo for you to work from here. Additionally we regret to inform those of you who care that we are not accepting horizontally oriented posters or posters that are uploaded in a series (i.e. multiple posters on the same idea or that only work in multiples.)
Your poster should be at least the size of an 8.5" by 11" piece of paper at 150dpi, and no larger than 25.5" by 33". Your poster will be available for download as an 8.5" by 11", 17" by 22", and 25.5" by 33". The larger posters will be made of tiled 8.5" by 11" sheets so that anyone can print them. You should therefore keep in mind what your poster will look like in several sizes (make sure type will be readable at the smallest) and be aware of the possibility that when printed, the tiled sheets might have margins. For the best quality we suggest you submit your poster as the largest size (25.5" by 33") but we can embiggen smaller posters for you (Note: the aspect ratio of your poster will never be distorted in any way).
Once your poster is done and your file prepared then you can upload it! Although you’ll retain ownership of your work, uploading your poster gives anyone and everyone who wishes it the right to use it in any capacity that does not involve altering it. The idea is that it can be printed and displayed a lot. If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea then you should reconsider uploading. If you do, however, decide to inspire and invigorate a potentially unlimited number of voters by sharing your work with the community and the country as a whole then be sure to enter a title and description for your poster and click upload!
Once your poster is approved (just to make sure it’s not inappropriate, vulgar, etc. and is actually for Obama) it will enter the community and appear in the gallery of posters on the left. While in the gallery it will be scored by fellow designers and Obama supporters. Scoring exists only for the purposes of easier navigation; you can view the highest scored, the most viewed, the most downloaded, and the newest. The best posters will not only make their way around the internet but will be downloaded and printed by Obama supporters and may well find their way around the country. It is our hope that the community will continue to grow spreading art, awareness and hope to as many people as possible so tell your friends to stop by and vote for your poster (quick and easy sharing available from your poster’s page).
